At ILM Highland, our mission involves supporting people to live safely and independently at home with practical services including care and repair, handyperson support and telecare.
Handyperson Service
No job is too small – our Handyperson service can assist with simple household tasks that many take for granted, like hanging shelves, moving furniture and even changing lightbulbs. They can also help with minor repairs and small installations, including fitting handrails, aid installations and other aids around the home.
What types of tasks does the Handy Person Service cover?
- Installing curtain poles, hanging new curtains, and taking down old ones
- Changing light bulbs
- Installing handrails
- Putting up shelves
- Fitting or adjusting door handles
- Adjusting doors after new carpet installation
- Installing bathroom cabinets
- Assembling flat-pack furniture
- Moving furniture within the home
- (We do not offer house removals, but we recommend Newstart Highland’s removal service)
- Moving non-electrical items kerbside for Highland Council recycling collections (Anything electrical ILM Highland can help)
- Installing toilet seats
- Sealing bathroom and kitchen areas
Care & Repair
Large improvements and adaptation jobs are available through our Care & Repair service. This may include organising surveys and drawings, obtaining quotes or dealing with contractors.
We can also support you to access housing improvement grants to adapt and modify your home. Should you be in need of assistance with grant applications, please contact us and we can talk you through the support that is available to you.
Telecare
Telecare provides peace of mind for vulnerable individuals, helping you live safely and independently at home. Using a system of sensors and wearable alarms, the service connects you to a 24/7 response centre who can arrange the right help when you need it or a care provider.
We offer a range of equipment to suit different needs, from personal alarm button pendants to more advanced sensors for falls, smoke, flooding, and medication reminders.
