Who We Are

The Company

ILM Highland is an independent social enterprise with charitable status. It was set up in 1994 to help people who had problems getting into the job market and staying there: the ‘Intermediate Labour Market’ is where the initials for the company name ‘ILM’ originated.
Over the years we extended our scope beyond environmental training, work experience and employment projects to include additional services such as the recycling of waste electrical goods, insulation services, business consultancy, and housing-related services for older people and people with disabilities.

Our Directors

The company has a board of five directors who come from a variety of public, private and voluntary sectors, bringing with them a wide range of skills and experience.

Former Board member of the Cromarty Firth Port Authority and currently a Trustee/Board member of Caledonian Community Leisure that runs the Inverness Leisure facility.

Our staff

The company employes 30 full time staff.

General Manager, Andy Dytch joined the company at its inception on 1994. Andy’s background has been in the social enterprise sector and came to ILM with a wealth of experience and practical skills which have been fully utilised over the years to nurture and grow the business to the successful, exciting and sustainable charity it is today.

Our partners

Over the years we have worked hard at forging strong partnerships and links within the North of Scotland. These have included local authorities, local enterprise companies, housing associations and now, increasingly, within the business sector.

To date, success has been achieved through an approach based on partnership working where appropriate funding has been secured for the implementation and delivery of specific projects that have now been added to our portfolio of services.

We strive to be a self-sustaining social enterprise. In recent years it has, therefore, moved away from the grant funding regime, preferring to focus on earned income and delivering services through contracting. By doing this, ILM Highland can meet its corporate objectives in a sustainable way. We have now been without grant funding for over four years.
