Facts and Figures about ILM Highland

 

ILM Highland was originally set up in Easter Ross but now carries out work throughout the Highland Council area – Ross and Cromarty, Sutherland, Lochaber, Skye and Lochalsh as well as Moray.

In addition, through its recycling operations, it operates a retail outlet for the sale of refurbished and new electrical goods at its Alness base.

Care and Repair

We have been running the Care and Repair service in Ross and Cromarty and Sutherland since 1994. The service is supported by funsing from the Highland Council. Each year the service benefits around 600 elderly people and those with a disability, while helping to imprve 300 houses. In 2010/11, the service helped people to claim improvement grants totalling £750,000 towards the cost of improving their homes.

Handyperson Service

The Handyperson Services have been operating in Sutherland and Ross and Cromarty since 2004. Since then, over 35,000 jobs have been completed. The service is supported by funding from the Highland Council and NHS Highland. About 6000 jobs are completed per year, improving people’s quality of life and reducing hazards around the home.

Insulation Service

ILM has been insulating homes since 1995. We are an appoved insulation contractor for British Gas, Scottish and Southern Electricity, The Instagroup and The Energy Savings Trust.

Recycling

Transform, our recycling facility for large domestic appliances, started operating in 2004. It deals with about 40,000 units annually, taking 2,250 tonnes out of the waste stream every year. Some 3,600 units, which is the equivalent to 160 tonnes of waste reused, with the rest going to recycling. This has provided a number of training places.

 

ILM Highland makes a major contribution to the implementation of the Highlands Area Waste Strategy.
